It might be possible to combine the best parts of public and private torrent trackers. There's a rich surface of ways to implement things.

https and wss does a pretty good job of anonymizing traffic to anyone watching, so it just looks like you're using the web, they dont even see what endpoints you hit

There's also things like the social and reputation network in nostr that can be used. I think retroshare used Turtle F2F quite successfully. Nostr can also encrypt for routing when needed. Many possibilties!

Also a good use case is accessing your own library from anywhere. You put your stuff in a list, then you or your family can view stuff you own from any device.

Main thing is that nostr doesnt have to do everything itself it can integrate with existing network, and provide some glue with discovery, or for identity and so on.
